How to Create a Great Reference
Updated over a week ago

Creating a great reference is quick and easy! The following few helpful hints will ensure you provide the best reference possible:

  1. Think about the question before you press record. Jot down a few primary points you want to touch. Once you start recording, tell your story in the context of the points you think a peer would be interested in hearing.

  2. Relax. You can easily delete your reference if you mess up or don't like it. Once you record your first video, you can watch it before you save it.

  3. Look into your camera and get right into your answer. Put yourself in the shoes of the potential customer, where you may have been recently. They are interested in your main points so target between 1-5 minutes per question.

  4. Authentic videos are not perfect. Don't worry if you pause or have to restate something. Your peers would rather see an authentic video than a promo commercial. If your video is more like a conversation with an actual person than a commercial on TV, you are in the right spot!

  5. Have fun! This tool is an easy way for you to share your successes with your favorite vendors. They appreciate you and your advocacy - and want to help cut down on the number of potential customers they have to send your way!
